The flier above pretty much explains it all, but let’s get redundant…
Aries, the new album from Arrison Kirby, will be released everywhere digitally and in limited physical form on April 2nd.
Four days later, on April 6th, we will be celebrating that release with a party at the Pilot Light in Knoxville’s Old City.
At this event, Obadiah will be reforming to perform the entire Aries album from start to finish. Dustin Milotte (Deep Green, Hypenkrunk) will be joining on guitar. Jakob Esaw (who will be also celebrating a birthday that night), will also be contributing to the set’s closer.
Before all this, we will be treated to a set from Sidecar Symposium.
And we will end the night with a dance party, courtesy of Nathan Moses with an all vinyl, soul and psychedelia DJ set.
Your master of ceremonies for the evening will be comic Jeff Blank.

Only come if you like music and good times!
With the release of Endless Winter, the new album from The Standstill, we are giving away the prologue of the album for free, via Soundcloud. The track is called “Shock O’ Barack” and it will be available for download until 2013 begins.
It was recorded the September before Barack Obama’s first election. Now it feels appropriate that it is being released just after his second.
Jeff Maynard, the primary writer and arranger, has the same birthday as Obama. Honestly, though, I have no idea if he really has any political opinions, himself. He seems the lover, not fighter, type…usually. In fact, this was kept on the “incomplete” list after the recording sessions, and “Shock O’Barack” may or may not have only been seen as a temporary, working title.
Produced by Arrison Kirby
Written by Jeff Maynard except “Where is my Mind?” written by Black Francis
Additional composition by The Standstill
Jeff Maynard – guitar, vocals
Kenny Gilbert – guitar
Nathan Brown – bass
Joshua Russell – drums
Christine Hale – vocals
Artwork by Nathan Tipton.
Recorded at El Studio, Knoxville, TN.

“The B” – Obadiah
To prepare for this show with How I Became the Bomb, Obadiah recorded four sessions over a course of three nights. This song was one that arose from between the cracks of our set in progress. It was born of improvisation, as a response to the song that proceeded it.
This is pretty silly stuff for to be the first “official” Obadiah song released in years. If you come check us out at the Pilot Light, you’ll see it’s barely even a scratch on the surface for the current barrage of Obadiah soundscapes.
Kenny Gilbert – guitar, bass
Josh Russell – drums
Nathan Brown – keys, electronics
Aaron Shugart-Brown – guitar, vocals
Arrison Kirby – keys, electronics, beats
This is the first show Obadiah will have played together in about five years. When the offer came through (not a week before the show), we all figured, “why not?” I don’t think any of us were certain as to what exactly was going to happen at our first scheduled session / rehearsal. That being the past now, I would say that it feels as if we never stopped in the first place. I won’t say that, though, because I feel we are all actually much better musicians now with a more mature sound then what it was when we left off.
This is likely going to be a rare one off as drummer, Josh Russell, will be shipping out to Oregon in just a few weeks. So come on down and see what Obadiah has become. You will not be disappointed.
